Take Action!

There are lots of ways to get involved whether you are an introvert or extrovert. We have subgroups involved in organizing standouts, sign brigades, post card writing, communication (newsletters, web team), fundraising, immigrant advocacy, local/state legislation, Sign Brigade and more.  We would love your help in any way you can participate.

Below are some quick actions you can take from home

1) Impeach RFKjr, and Pete Hegseth

Tell MOC to Join Rep. Stevens’ Impeachment Articles Against RFK jr. Use this petition from Stand Up for Science: https://tinyurl.com/impeachRFK

Tell MOC to sign on to efforts by Rep. Shri Thanedar and Rep. Yassamin Ansari to impeach Pete Hegseth https://tinyurl.com/HegsethOut

2) Tell MOC to pass the ICE Out of Our Faces Act

ICE relies on their own faulty facial recognition app rather than looking at peoples real ID, passport or other documents. Tell Congress to end this practice by signing the ACLU letter:
aclu.org/iceoutofourfaces

3) Keep Calling Your Reps

Use 5calls.org for scripts and be able to automatically call your representatives. They help you track current issues and update regularly by region.

4) Sign Letters and Petitions

UltraViolet is a good site for finding current petitions or letters to send about a range of issues.  You can also create your own through change.org or moveon.org

5) Support Local Food Banks and Mutual Aid Organizations

Donate to Open Table (or other local food banks/pantries) opentable.org

Wanted: ground coffee, tea, sugar, flour, salt, oil, hearty soups/stews.

6) Help swing state elections

Sign up to send postcards to swing states as we head into midterm elections/other special elections.

7) Share Immigrant Support Resources

Print and share these free resources with your community: Zines to report ICE made by @meganpiont.bsky.social

8) Boycott the Companies that support ICE and oppose DEI

Citizens Bank, Home Depot and others are directly and indirectly supporting ICE. A list of such companies that assist ICE are here: https://www.boycottcitizens.org/ice
Here is a broader list including those with rights abuses: https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/ethicalcampaigns/boycotts

9) Cancel Subscriptions/divest from companies that don’t share your values

Leave Social media platforms and tech companies that use algorithms to sew hatred and enrich the broligarchs: X, Meta, etc. Ask charities and other nonprofits to leave them too here  Chat GPT is the biggest contributor to tech: actions you can take here

Divest from Black Rock and Vanguard that finance Geo Group, Core Civic, and Palantir.  Make those running for office pledge to take no campaign money from Peter Theil. Letter here:
https://purgepalantir.com/take-action/

Leave newspapers that are lopsided in their reporting and instead support independent reporting

Cancel your Paramount+ subscription over censorship and antitrust concerns. Others to cancel: Amazon, Youtube, Microsoft office, and Apple. Easy unsubscribe links at the bottom of this page https://www.resistandunsubscribe.com/
This site has a calculator to see which actions will have the most impact: https://v0-impact-calculator-henna.vercel.app/

10) Organize a Strike

How to Defeat MAGA Tyranny, Chapter 1: A History of Social Strikes Around the World

As authoritarian politics harden in the United States, familiar channels of resistance are proving dangerously inadequate. Elections are constrained, courts are under siege, and dissent is increasingly met with repression in the streets. In this moment, questions of power — who has it, how it is exercised, and how it can be withdrawn — are no longer abstract. They are immediate and practical. Video resource here.

11) Submit a public comment

There is a comment period on the federal register for changes to regulations/rules. These comments can be submitted anonymously.  Addinga  senetnce to make them personal is helpful. Submit here: https://www.federalregister.gov/
