We had a good discussion at Maynard Public Library about Mass Surveillance technology: what it is, how it has been used, how the data is stored and accessed, and what we can do to protect our 4th amendment rights
July 4 Community Picnic in the Park
We were surprised to learn that the town had not really planned any event for the 250th anniversary of the 4th of July. We decided to organize a social event to bring in the holiday together. Once the permit was in hand we only had a week and a half to get the word out and then had to deal with a major heat wave. But we still had a successful event. We met some new neighbors, shared food, and chatted with one another. Thank you all who braved high humidity and high temperatures to build community.
Maynard Pridefest, June 6, 2026
This year’s Pride Fest theme was “Rooted in Resistance.” It was a joyful and festive event and we were happy to have the opportunity to table at the event and have folks take actions in support of LGBTQIA-friendly legislation
Standouts on Summer St.
We meet at Veterans Memorial Park the 3rd Saturday each month to protest against authoritarianism. Thanks to Excelsior games who twice provided us with space to make signs!
We also meet weekly from 1-2:30 pm on Fridays at the Hanscom Rotary in Lincoln to protest ICE’s deportation flights. Many of our members attend Bearing Witness on Wednesdays outside the Burlington ICE field office.
In addition to the regular recurring, events we have held standouts for special events like May Day to fight for workers over billionaires..
No Kings 3 Rally:

More than 10% of Maynard’s population gathered for the No Kings 3 Rally. We collected 160 pounds of food for Open Table and were inspired by the many Speakers and singers.

Monthly Huddles and meetings
Our monthly meetings have included actions like making whistle kits, writing letters and signing petitions as well as trainings. Trainings included information on MA legislation, building resiliency in our resistance, effective strategies for advocacy, and helping our community.
Citizens Bank Standouts
Citizens Bank funds GeoGroup and Core Civic, private prison companies that build and run ICE detention centers including Delaney Hall, Alligator Alcatraz and the Center in Dilley, Texas. We have participated in Nationwide standouts at the Stow branch in January, March and June, braving temperatures as cold as 4 degrees and as hot as 90 degrees to pressure Citizens to cut ties and to educate the public about where to bank
