About

We are a pro-democracy movement created to oppose the destructive ways the current administration is dismantling our Constitutional fabric in favor of authoritarian rule that benefits unethical billionaires at the expense of working people, communities, and the planet.

Our goal is to support the rebuilding of democratic norms and institutions that embody justice, equity, and sustainability — through strategic non-cooperation, non-violent, grassroots organizing, and community solidarity. We believe that true democracy cannot endure without active, informed participation and bold resistance to concentrated power.

Maynard Area Indivisible aims to build strong local networks that create resilient and regenerative communities — spaces where people care for each other, share power, and practice democracy from the ground up. In response to rising authoritarianism, we prioritize people over profit, truth over propaganda, and justice over fear.

Our Initiatives

Fighting for Immigrant justice and protection.

We have met with local businesses about being a 4th amendment workplace and have had them hang Signs of Solidarity to welcome vulnerable members of our community. We are also working on updating our local PD/Immigration policy

Voter Education

From voter registration drives, to mailing postcards to voters in other states, to educating community members about the November Ballot Questions, we are actively trying to keep voters informed as this important election approaches

Protect against a surveillance state

We are working on a town ordinance to allow for Public Oversight of surveillance technology and are pushing to put guardrails in place at local and state levels around data collection, retention and sharing. Click here for a slide show about these issues

Community Building

We are trying to host local events like our 4th of July Picnic to build community. Knowing your neighbors helps to invest in one another and better allow for open dialogue.

Boycotting businesses that support ICE and the tech bros

We have participated in the De-ICE Citizens Bank movement and have educated folks about other businesses run by billionaires who support ICE or have outsized influence in our government

Supporting mutual aid organizations

We regularly collect donations for Open Table for community members in need, including those who who were sent to the Burlington ICE field office
